Significant progress in small-cell lung cancer research

Small-cell lung cancer is a particularly aggressive type of tumor with a consistently high mortality rate.
Scientists at MedUni Vienna's Department of Thoracic Surgery have made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Their research, recently published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, provides new insights into the biology and heterogeneity of SCLC. Led by Balazs Döme, the team categorized SCLC into distinct subgroups with varying clinical behaviors and identified potential therapeutic strategies.
