The Story Behind 1UpOnCancer:
On July 11, 2015 Chris and Christina Haslage found themselves at Chipotle immediately after hearing about the passing of the President and CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata.  Mr. Iwata was a fixture of the gaming industry long before he was the CEO, making some of the best games on the Nintendo consoles; his work is near and dear to many who were fans of his. Cancer had made yet another headline in their lives after having so many family members and friends fighting cancer and in some cases, losing.  During their time at Chipotle, they recalled their family members and friends who had lost the battle and were asking each other – when is it enough? A little while later, they found out that a very close friend were finally diagnosed with brain cancer after a week’s wait.  They decided right then that they had to do something because treatment was not cheap and they had to watch family and friends go through bankruptcy due to the high costs of treatments and loss of job
